CURRENT CHARACTERS: Laios Touden
CHARACTER
NAME: Bigby Wolf
CANON: The Wolf Among Us
CANON POINT: Post-game (after throwing the Crooked Man down the Witching Well)
BACKGROUND: Wiki
SUITABILITY: Bigby is a lone wolf with a past he can’t seem to shake. He’s in constant conflict with himself, always forced to find a balance between who he was and who he wants to be, yet never able to leave the middle ground. In Fabletown, any effort to reform as the peacekeeper is met with scrutiny and distrust, while losing control when pushed to his limit only shows he never stopped being the monster everyone knows him as. Bottlecap Bay therefore offers a unique test of his morality, removing him from his reputation completely to let him choose between right or wrong on his own terms. While socially aloof, being forced to work collaboratively with creates an interesting challenge for him, particularly in growing his character beyond the isolated cycle he usually finds himself in.
As a sheriff back home, Bigby’s used to sniffing around where he may not be wanted. While usually expected to play the role of an enforcer for the upper class, he’s equally clever enough to be a detective and doesn't mind getting his hands dirty when the time calls. With the growing mysteries surrounding Bottlecap Bay, he'd be a good fit for trying to unravel them alongside others, especially if it has to do with getting everyone back home. He's not afraid of being the muscle when he has to be, which could likewise be a good fit for any of the more intensive quests requiring some more manpower.
QUESTIONNAIRE:
POKEMON: Morpeko. There’s a bit of a cruel joke here, turning a giant wolf into small rodent, but that’s also entirely the point. Bigby’s usual appearance is very much a representation of who people think he is. He knows he comes across as imposing and intimidating, and he knows how to use that to his advantage when the situation calls for it. But in Bottlecap Bay? There’s no reputation to speak of, and no history as the Big Bad Wolf to fall back on. Navigating the world as a cute little thing is a complete antithesis to who he is, further complicating the identity crisis that is his life, especially when Hunger Switch comes into play. Like Morpeko, Bigby has the capacity to slip into a more temperamental, more violent state. He can reign it in, but it's a consistent struggle, and one that he often loses when pushed to his limit. Him being forced to keep the beast in check—including on a physical level now—is just par for the course with Bigby. It's a unique ability to play around with in general, allowing him to tap into emotional states that wouldn't normally pop out so easily.
There's also just something to be said about the Big Bad Wolf, who ate just about anything and anyone, having to constantly keep his hunger mood swings in check while here.
(Aesthetically, the shiny variant’s colors match Bigby’s brown hair, black fur, and white shirt. That’s really all there is to that choice!)

QUESTIONNAIRE:
⟡ Your character is on an exploration quest when they find an injured Pokemon in need of help. This Pokemon appears to be in distress and is quite dangerous, posing a risk to your character even if they mean well, and putting your quest mission at risk. What do they do? What are some possibilities of how they work with teammates to address this, or do they go at it alone?
Despite himself, his immediate reaction would be mixed. Realistically, he knows it might not be feasible to assist them, not when they pose such a risk to his team during a mission. Even so, he’d hesitate to just let it go, especially if the group is in good enough shape to delay their progress. Call it a soft spot for the vulnerable, or maybe just the recognition of his own behavior in their distress, but he would ultimately decide that they at least need to do something before moving on. Of all the options, subduing them would be his likely choice, especially if they’re not listening to reason. If he manages to convince his team, then he’d try to strategize with them on a plan of attack. If not, then he’d opt to go it alone, brute forcing his way through a fight as he so often does. Is he probably miscalculating his own strength as Pokemon in this scenario? Most definitely. But he’s nothing if not reckless when pushed against a wall, and even more so if it’s to protect others.
⟡ Your character's worst enemy has recently appeared in game, and has joined the guild your character is part of. They both want to tackle the same quest, and your character's enemy suggests that they work together as a team to accomplish this goal. How does your character respond to this?
Being the Big Bad Wolf lends itself well to having plenty of enemies to choose from, but Bigby has always had a funny relationship with the people who might not want anything to do with him. While old grudges may die hard, he’s also a believer of fresh starts when the situation calls for it. If that means allying with an old enemy who’s also willing to put aside their differences, then so be it. Obviously that won’t mean he’ll completely hold off on the sarcasm or quick temper, especially if they really want dredge up old drama, but he’ll certainly try to keep it lighter than usual. It’s all part of leaving the past behind him and all that.
He’d only ever outright refuse if the enemy in question has repeatedly shown themselves to be untrustworthy and self-serving. Bigby won’t play into being someone else’s fool, regardless of any initial benefit it may bring. In fact, he might even go so far as to try to protect others in his guild from them, though how convincing he’d be would depend on just how worked up he is about the whole situation.
⟡ The leader of your character's guild has just approached your character with an offer: they will provide your character with extra supplies, reputation points, and help them with any of their current struggles. In exchange, they ask for your character to do a favor for them that may harm the other guilds, and will not specify what the favor is in advance. It sounds shady, but it's the deal of a lifetime in your character's path to get back home, and refusing it may cause strife for your character within their current guild. What do they think of this offer? What do they ultimately decide to do?
This would be a tough situation, one he’d have to think on, but not one he’d be unfamiliar with. As much as he hates to admit it, Bigby has served as the enforcer for the upper class for a long while already, which has consistently put him at odds with the direct interests of his community’s more disenfranchised, who see him more as a problem than a help. Ultimately, he’s used to the consequences of following the orders of his superiors, along with taking the brunt of the criticism for it. Nevertheless, his actions generally align with the saying that the ends justify the means, even if that results in him getting his hands dirty in the process.
Knowing that about himself, he’d take the deal, a little begrudgingly, while also acknowledging that a favor in his pocket is far better than a hit on his reputation. The possibility of harming the other guilds will weight on his mind, but the fact that it’s only a possibility again adds to why he would choose the way he did. After all, he just said he would help his guild leader; that won’t stop him from doing it in his own way, including going behind their back to mitigate any real damage from happening.
⟡ Due to shortages on supplies, the city is facing issues deciding where to cut corners during this rough time. Somehow, the responsibility has fallen on your character's shoulders, and they have to make a decision. If they send out an extra team of Pokemon, they will be able to gather more food, and through that, save the lives of dozens of starving Pokemon that were in dire need of nutrition. However, the only Pokemon available to scout for food are those working at the pokeclinic, and sending them out would mean certain death for at least two ill patients. What does your character decide to do? How do they feel about this choice, and how would they deal with the pushback that comes from either side?
First of all, that’s a real serious situation if Bigby is getting pulled into it. For the most part, he tends to be pretty pragmatic about his decision-making process. He’d have to question how they even got here in the first place. Who are those two sick Pokemon and why are their lives so much more important than everyone else’s? How can the only two scouts available be on the clinic team? He’d rather just go out on his own to gather what he can than try to argue about it, but ultimately, he’d choose to send the scouts on a resource hunt if there was no other alternative.
Also, since he would be a hungry Morpeko during all of this, he absolutely would not be civil about his stance on the matter, regardless of how the end result looks. What’s done is done. The whole city can’t starve and lead to more lives lost. Everyone just needs to move on.
POKEMON: Morpeko. There’s a bit of a cruel joke here, turning a giant wolf into small rodent, but that’s also entirely the point.
